for Rabab"
Rishi Ranjan represents the
“Senia Maihar Gharana” or “Tansen Senia Beenkar Gharana” The oldest and
top most school of Indian Classical Music founded by legend Acharya Baba
Allauddin Khan Saheb. Born to Sh. Jagdish Chander and Smt. Krishna Devi on
24th February, 1979 in Chandigarh. He probably cut his milk
teeth on the strings of musical instruments. Started learning music at the
age of 8 at home from his elder brother Sh. Harish Chander and maternal
uncle Pandit Shri Krishan Sharma, Dr. Saroj Ghosh. Born in to the family
of musician in talented young Rabab Specialist is possibly the only
qualified Rabab Instructor in the world. He is stepped into the world of
music and Rabab with confidence, clarity, consistency and technical
mastery that he learnt and learning . Rishi has been performing concerts
through out the world. He has given many solo performances and also
assisted his illustrious teachers and artists like Ustad Aashish Khan,
Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Anindo Chaterjee , Sudhir Phadke, Vineet Vyas,
Chintoo Singh, Arshad Ahmed, Dr. Saroj Ghosh, Sh. Subhash Chander Ghosh,
Dr Gurnam Singh in live classical music concerts, Sikh Music festivals,
fusion music concerts and Radio & T.V. recordings.
Presently
teaching Music in one of the renowned Institutions in Sikh Music

He is visiting faculty
members of Rabab teaching in Gurmat Sangeet Department of Punjabi
University, Patiala. Young Rishi did his graduation in Music (Vocal &
Instrumental) from Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2000. Since then he
has been practicing, researching, learning, teaching string instruments (Rabab,
Guitar, Mandolin, Sarode, Sitar) as a vocation.
He is
learing music by following the Ancient Indian Teaching of Guru Shishya
Parampara or tradition and doing music projects as well under the guidance
of world renowned musician Ustad Aashish Khan(Grammy Award nominee2007)
son of Legend Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and promotes his students to learn,
play and enjoy the Rabab and other string instruments through out the
world.
His first debut video album
Rabab An Introduction produced and released by Punjabi University.
This was the first project in Gurmat Sangeet world.
Rishi has won the hearts of music lovers both in India and abroad notably
Canada, UK, Mauritius, Bulgaria with performing troupes.
“Music an
ocean the depth of which no person can reach, so my education in this
passion of mine will outlive me” says the young talent. |
